How do I acquire the QBQ! training system?
The QBQ! system is licensed by organizations on an annual basis. It is not purchased. Clients pay a tuition/fee for each person trained with the program. Each person then receives the materials described in the brochure. This is the fairest way to price training as one organization may train 12 people and another might need to train 1,200. Shouldn't the smaller organization pay less than the larger one? We think so.

How long is the program?
It is designed to be implemented in one full day, two half days, or 4 two-hour sessions over time. It is very flexible.

What content is provided in the system?
The PDF brochure summarizes the content in bullet points. Here is a more complete description:

THE FOUR VIDEO/DVD SESSIONS OF QBQ! CONTENT (instructed by John G. Miller - author of QBQ!):

Session 1) QBQ! A Tool for Leaders at All Levels
This session is a powerful tool to enable everyone to understand accountability, its myths and how to begin practicing it to eliminate stress from our lives. Participants also learn how to control their thinking process and to view improving thinking as a key obligation of leaders at all levels. They discover that all of us are leaders and they are provided a scenario that demonstrates for them the power of asking The Question Behind the Question and practicing personal accountability. This is session is foundational - and critical - to the entire program.

Session 2) The “How To” of the QBQ!
In this session, participants learn how to eliminate victim thinking, blaming, complaining and procrastination from their lives. Additionally, participants learn how to use the specific tool called “QBQ“ to enable them to begin to put personal accountability into action. Through stories and humor, John Miller enables each of us to see exactly how to practice personal accountability at work - and at home.

Session 3) Personal Accountability in Action
The one constant in our lives is change! While the normal tendency is to fight change and resist the changing conditions, the QBQ modifies the thinking process to ask, ”How can I adapt and grow through these changes?“ Participants learn growing through change, helping others, and serving their customers and the organization more effectively are the keys to success. This module is full of examples of people - leaders at all levels - who practice personal accountability and make a difference in their organizations and their lives.

Session 4) QBQ! Creativity and Integrity
Many believe creativity means succeeding outside the box. In this session, we discover true creativity is more than that. Too many explain poor performance saying, ”I could have done it if I had only had the right tools, more help or more time.“ In truth, personally accountable - and successful - people understand that achieving goals is based on working creatively within real world limitations and using the tools at hand creatively to achieve objectives. Also, this module provides a heavy focus on what it means to live a life of integrity and make sure that our actions are consistent with our words, performance and results. This session is the ”crescendo“ of the entire system and brings it all together as we discover it's not about asking, ”Why don't others walk their talk?“ but rather ”How can I practice the principles I espouse?“ When this session concludes each participant - without a doubt - will know that personal accountability is his or her job!

What materials are provided?

THE SYSTEM COMPONENTS

1. Facilitator Components:

Video or DVD-Based Leader System
The content delivered by video or DVD provides a consistent quality message that will stimulate high-level participation. Also, it provides the means for repetition - the key to long-term results. This resource makes the system extremely user-friendly for facilitators. Key point: The instruction of QBQ! material is done by author of QBQ! John G. Miller - not our client facilitators. This makes the system user-friendly, easy-to-implement, and provides a consistent message over time.

Facilitator Manual
A 96-page comprehensive manual with ”Pause and Process“ discussion points, written ideas, questions and techniques for creating meaningful group interaction and specific action plans. This easy-to-use manual eliminates a lot of the need for facilitator training. (Note: this facilitator guide is only available to organizations who license the training system).

CD Audio Soundtracks
An exact reproduction of the video content on audio. It provides each Facilitator with an easy review of session content when video equipment is not readily available. This aids preparation and review.

2. Participant Components:

Participant Workbook
A well designed 56-page visually stimulating workbook that follows the presentation of each video/DVD session plus leaves ample space for group interaction ideas and notes.

Action Contracts
Supplied at the end of each session to provide each participant an easy method of developing a plan of action to implement specific ideas.

CD Audio Soundtracks
A complete and exact CD audio soundtrack album that reviews the specific content shared during the classroom experience, making it easy for participants to revisit the material at their own pace.

The QBQ! Book
QBQ! Question Behind the Question a best-selling, high-impact business book authored by John G. Miller. It is the foundational text upon which the QBQ! training system is based. The book is an excellent review of the concepts and ideas provided in the training.

QBQ! Pad, Pen and Wallet/Pocket Card
Tools to continue reinforcing the QBQ! content on a daily basis.

Why can’t I just buy a video?
A single, stand-alone video is not a complete or sufficient training and development process for the adult learner. It's far too easy to buy a 20-minute video, show it over lunch, and then ask ”Any questions?“ and think people have mastered the content. True adult learning requires many facets of learning, the core ingredients being participant involvement, customization and repetition. The tools of the QBQ! training system allow our clients to repeat the content through video, audio, a content handbook with personal notes, and the actual QBQ! book. Through facilitation, the client enables participant involvement and thus real learning and change to occur.

Does video work? I?ve had a bad experience or two with it!
Video (or DVD) instruction is the most effective tool for consistency of message, tailoring of content, and ease of implementation. If you have a negative view of video as a training tool, then it was not used properly, was full of irrelevant role-plays and false scenarios unrelated to your job and life, or simply featured an ineffective instructor. None if this is a problem with QBQ!

Can the video/DVD content be ”customized“?
It doesn't need to be. The QBQ! content is so applicable and so relevant, it is easily tailored through facilitation. By orchestrating large and small group discussion, pairings, exercises, and activities/games, the facilitator easily and naturally connects the powerful QBQ! content to the critical problems facing your organization today! Your participants will leave the session saying the best thing they can say: ”Thanks! That was practical!“ Translation: I can and will use it.

What size group is ideal to train on with QBQ!?
We recommend 6-18 people in a class. You certainly can do more depending on room design, number of facilitators, etc. Ask us, we can help you design and plan.

How does QBQ, Inc. keep track of how many people we train with the QBQ! system?
We don't. We trust our clients. And, they contact us to order the Participant Kits for additional people trained. At that time QBQ, Inc. ships the product and invoices the client organization.

Can I simply buy pieces of the training system, e.g., the Facilitator Guide?
No. They are components of the comprehensive system and only available through licensing the entire system.

Is the system license renewable?
Yes! Usually it’s extended on an annual basis.

How do I get certified to facilitate QBQ!?
QBQ, Inc can provide facilitation training sessions for clients at the location of their choice. Sessions are generally to 6-12 people and typically involve a full-day session either on-site or at a nearby facility.

But not every organization will need facilitation training. QBQ, Inc. has found that with the help of our 96-page practical, self-explanatory Facilitator's Guide, individuals can lead QBQ! sessions without going through formal facilitation training. Just license the program, study the facilitator guide, prepare your session plans, and get going!

Does QBQ, Inc. provide phone support for facilitators?
Yes. We provide it by phone and email - and in person if called for in the license agreement.

We’re a small organization and don’t have anyone to facilitate. Can someone from QBQ, Inc. facilitate for us?
Yes, QBQ, Inc. or one of its distributors will gladly facilitate sessions for you. Call or e-mail for more info. Please tell us where you are located.

Training System Testimonial

“In implementing the QBQ! training system on personal accountability we’ve seen a vast reduction in the “we’ve always done it that way” mindset. QBQ! has helped the staff search for new solutions together. A number of timesaving and safety-enhancing measures have been put in place, including minimizing replication in inputting data and replacing hard copies of information with electronic ones for easier access. While these sound simple, a year ago they seemed insurmountable operating in a blame environment. Creating a NO BLAME environment has made staff much more forthcoming about their own performance and ways to improve the system. Department employee satisfaction surveys continue to show an increase in the area of “satisfied” to “very satisfied.” As employees become more involved, there is greater overall job satisfaction. We continue to receive more open feedback regarding suggestions for improvement and changes intended to improve the services that we provide. And, plans are in the works to roll out the QBQ! training system to other departments too.”
